Upcoming Kauai Foreclosures:

The Garden Island Newspaper recently printed the following list of properties to be sold at public auction for failure to pay real property taxes. The sale is to be held at the Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall on May 21, 2026 at 9am:

  1. Puu Road, Kalaheo.  TMK 4-2-3-4-27. Total amount due $70,888.59. 3 bedrooms and 1.5 bathrooms, approximately 1,056 sqft.  Land area 28,445 sqft.
  2. 2301 Puu Road, Kalaheo.  TMK 4-2-3-4-28.  Total amount due $14,408.41. 3 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms, approximately 1,610 sqft. Land area 10,375 sqft.
  3. Ke Alaula Street, Koloa. TMK 4-2-6-19-29. Total amount due $331,431.76. Approximately 29.23 acres.
  4. 1970 Hanalima Street Unit R102, Lihue.  TMK 4-3-3-3-29-42. Total amount due $23,255.05.   2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, approximately 750 sqft. A Halelani Village condominium.

There is a one year right of redemption for the previous owner on tax auctions in Hawaii. Read/click this notice for more information on this. Besides the one year right of redemption, title companies will have their own waiting period before they issue title insurance, hindering a resale. Also realize that buying a property at a tax auction does not wipe out any mortgages or other liens.

You will have to read last month’s Foreclosure blog for Part 1. But I’m happy to say the contractor started this week on removing the 17 abandon vehicles. Next would be removing the personal property/junks and securing the building. Oh and I can’t forget about getting the bee keeper there to remove the bees.
