No trespassing sign
I haven’t seen any foreclosure notices coming up in the past few weeks. I have a Kauai REO (banked own home) coming up in Wailua Homestaeds. The sheriffs have deemed it clear and done their eviction, saying no one has been there when they have come. But the utilities were still on. Now on Kauai, the water department wont bother shutting the meter off if there’s little water being used. But KIUC (electricity) doesn’t give much of a grace period. That’s why my KIUC bills are on an automatic payment plan. Life gets busy, and KIUC will shut off your power if you forget your bill on the desk. (writing from experience LOL. I even paid my neighbors bill one time, when they came to his house to turn it off). Anyways by the power being on, I knew someone was still there even though the sheriffs didn’t encounter anyone. So this property is down a long driveway. I was nervous to go there, the previous (current?) occupant wasn’t know to be cordial. I brought my husband. In our long pants and shoes we ventured through the maze of abandon vehicles and high grass and weeds. We made it to the house. My husband called out “hello, hello”. No one answered. We approach. I posted my “No “Trespassing” & “you have 15 days to contact me to

Walking trail to the property
remove your property” signs. The house was worse than I expected. There were signs that someone could still be living there. Outside the entrance I posted my large “No Trespassing” sign. I drive by the next couple of days and still see my sign posted. Yes! I’m assuming that means the property is still vacant. Unfortunately 6 days later from my initial look with my husband, the neighbor emails me and lets me know that my sign is gone and they hear noise over there. Because of the vegetation they can’t see anything. What a bummer. I decided to go the next day by myself, yesterday to be exact. My sign as in the photo was gone. The wire fence was closed up. But I was able to crawl underneath it. I was determine to find out what’s going on. There were various tarps strewed against the overgrown walk way(more then last week), I get close enough to call out “hello, hello” No one answered, and I decided to get the heck out of there. It’s secluded. No neighbors or anyone else can see you. I called the Sheriff after and we discussed about calling the police. But they can’t do much unless someone is there. Then they can arrest any trespasser. I was going to go over today 4/1/2026, but decided I would wait till after Holy Week. Next week I will see if anyone is still there and call the police about my stolen sign and have them go with me to the house to see if there’s any trespassers. I will be bringing my bolt cutters. I have used them before. This is not my first REO rodeo. If you want an adventure sneak peak feel free to come and look with me. After 15 days the abandon vehicles and personal property can & will be removed. Below is a photo I took yesterday. Access is now blocked with another tarp.
